Joshua Bankes

I received my BFA in graphic design from the University of the Arts, formerly Philadelphia College of Art (PCA), in Philadelphia with a concentration in printmaking and photography. This renowned graphic design program was assembled by Ken Hiebert and supported by Hans U. Allemann, Inge Druckery, and Christine Zelinsky, all students of the Fachklasse für Grafik under Armin Hofmann at the Allgemeine Gewerbeschule Basel — Basel School of Design — bringing Hofmann’s pragmatism to the process of exploration — simplicity through reduction and independent thinking — transforming the manner of American design education. My photography has been further strengthened through the inspiration and instruction of Jan Almquist, Laurence Bach and Jerry Greenfield.
